Introduction

The Personal Banking Partner chatbot is an advanced voice and chat-based financial assistant developed using Voiceflow.ai. This project aims to provide a seamless and intuitive banking experience for users by addressing common queries. The chatbot was designed with a deep focus on natural language understanding (NLU) and user-centric workflows. This project showcases advanced conversational design principles, focusing on delivering seamless financial assistance to users.

Project Objective

The primary objective of this project was to design a chatbot that assists users in finding essential banking services efficiently. Key services include:

  1. Banking Services: Savings accounts, credit cards, fixed deposits, personal loans, and customer support.

  2. Special Offers: E-gifts, bus tickets, flight bookings, and hotel reservations

​Instead of asking users to browse through multiple links or visit various pages, the chatbot directly provides them with relevant links to the webpages or apps, making it an effective time-saving tool.

Design & Flow

The "Personal Banking Partner" chatbot follows a button-driven conversation design, with the main menu split into two primary categories: Banking Services and Offers. Each category further branches out to reveal a variety of banking-related tasks, such as:

  • Savings Account: Apply for a new account, close an existing account, check the rate of interest.

  • Credit Card: Apply for a new card, upgrade, inquire bill payment cycle.

  • Fixed Deposit: Apply for a new deposit, inquire about interest rates.

  • Personal Loan: Apply for a loan, inquire about terms.

  • Customer Support: Contact support via a phone number.

For each option selected, the chatbot simply provides the user with a direct link to the respective webpage or app, bypassing the need for manual search.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Efficiency: Users can navigate through their banking services using a simple, button-driven interface. The chatbot offers quick access to key actions without unnecessary dialogues, ensuring that the user's needs are addressed swiftly.

  • Convenience: The chatbot eliminates the need to visit multiple websites or apps by providing immediate links to the correct pages. This makes banking accessible without interruption, helping users handle transactions at any time, from anywhere.

  • User-Centric: Designed for tech-savvy young adults who seek efficiency, the chatbot caters to the modern banking audience by offering them the convenience of banking without leaving their homes or offices.

User Testing

Although formal user testing was not conducted for this particular project, several informal tests were performed with four potential peers from the target demographic. Early feedback highlighted that users found the chatbot easy to use and appreciated the speed and efficiency of the redirection to services but said that it lacked personalisation since finance is a very huge domain. The formal tone of the chatbot was well-received, as it aligned with the professionalism expected from a banking-related assistant.
